🌌 Anthropic co-founder says the singularity has begun ↗️LINK
Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark told policymakers at the IMF and World Bank’s annual meetings that the AI singularity has “now begun,” with AI accelerating scientific discovery faster than humans can follow.
Clark cited AI benchmark gains from 8% to 67.7% on Humanity’s Last Exam and 2% to 94% on FrontierMath. An Anthropic model also projects $44 trillion in U.S. GDP by 2030.
Clark said 10 million human scientists could soon direct a billion virtual ones, urging governments to invest in labs and robots. Apparently, even the AI singularity needs a massive infrastructure budget.
🚀 Musk pledges SpaceX shares to every US child ↗️LINK
Elon Musk says he plans to give one SpaceX share to every child in the United States next year, calling the planned giveaway "the first of many" in a post on X.
The pledge follows Anthropic's decision to earmark 5% of its shares for public-good donations. Musk, who owns 6.42 billion SpaceX shares, responded by promising to give stock directly to the public.
With roughly 72 million Americans under 18, the giveaway could total $10.5 billion at $146 per share. One small hitch: Musk hasn't specified eligibility or a distribution plan.
💰 OpenAI targets $1.4 trillion valuation ↗️LINK
OpenAI is reportedly racing to raise about $30 billion at a valuation of $1.4 trillion or more, aiming to close before Anthropic’s expected mid-November IPO. SoftBank and MGX are in talks to join.
OpenAI needs the cash for infrastructure, and the timing matters. Anthropic has out-valued OpenAI since May, though some investors now peg its IPO near $1.5 trillion, down from $2 trillion.
Altman says OpenAI won’t go public until it can make confident safety claims about its models. Until then, private rounds like this one are the only scoreboard OpenAI gets.
🚫 U.S. orders agencies to remove DeepSeek AI ↗️LINK
Homeland Security ordered federal civilian agencies to stop buying DeepSeek products and remove existing ones from their IT systems, including third-party tools built using DeepSeek technology. Agencies can request exceptions.
DHS warns that Chinese law could give Beijing access to sensitive data from US government users, since DeepSeek runs its servers in China. Beijing accused Washington of politicizing technology and trade.
The order never defines “developed using DeepSeek implementations.” With DeepSeek’s models freely available as open weights, agencies may first need to figure out which of their vendors quietly used them.
🍎 Apple to unveil touchscreen MacBook Pro ↗️LINK
Apple confirmed a “Pro and tell” launch in Los Angeles on October 28, where Bloomberg reports it will debut its first touchscreen MacBook Pro alongside an M6 MacBook Pro, iMac, and iPad mini.
The new MacBook Pros reportedly add an OLED display and an iPhone-style Dynamic Island, both Mac firsts, but keep the same M5 Pro and M5 Max chips from March’s models.
Apple spent years insisting Macs and touchscreens don’t mix, a view Steve Jobs held firmly. Turns out it just needed the right Pro machine, and a good pun, to change its mind.

Reader’s opinions:
“It’s only a matter of time before AI on its own or AI at the behest of someone unscrupulous is used to cause chaos just because it can or in favor of some political, financial or religious agenda. ”
“So is being implemented across every industry and being relied upon to make decisions - humans are not checking the machines so any catastrophe that happens is due to our own ignorance and greed”
