Hand-picked news:

🚀 OpenAI launches ChatGPT image generator ↗️LINK

  • OpenAI launched GPT Image 1.5, a major upgrade to ChatGPT’s image generator that’s up to 4× faster, keeps faces and layouts consistent across edits, and responds to Google’s Nano Banana Pro momentum.

  • The new model significantly improves text rendering, handling long text, infographics, and mixed font sizes much better than GPT-image-1, and now ranks first on major image and editing leaderboards.

  • OpenAI also introduced a dedicated creative panel with templates and style presets, making image creation faster and helping the company stay competitive as AI image tools rapidly advance.

🌐 Mozilla plans to turn Firefox into an AI browser ↗️LINK

  • Mozilla announced that under new CEO Anthony Enzor-DeMeo, Firefox will evolve into an AI-powered browser over the next three years, with AI features remaining optional and easy to turn off.

  • Despite those assurances, many Firefox users reacted angrily online, saying they use Firefox specifically to avoid the AI-heavy direction taken by browsers like Chrome, Edge, and Opera.

  • The backlash echoes recent criticism faced by other tech companies pushing AI-first strategies, leaving some users worried that truly AI-free browsers will soon be limited to niche alternatives.

🍎 New leak reveals many upcoming Apple products ↗️LINK

  • An early build of iOS 26, taken from a prototype iPhone that was sold publicly, exposed internal code naming dozens of unreleased Apple devices, confirming several recent leaks.

  • The leak maps out Apple’s Mac plans through 2026, including M5 MacBooks, a budget MacBook, updated Mac mini and Mac Studio models, and redesigned M6 MacBook Pros.

  • The code also mentions future AirTags, iPads, iPhones (including a Fold model), Apple Watches, Vision Pro headsets, smart glasses projects, a Home Hub device, and several unknown products still under wraps.

📺 Texas sues TV makers over ad-targeting spyware ↗️LINK

  • Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sued Sony, Samsung, LG, Hisense, and TCL, accusing them of secretly tracking what people watch on their smart TVs without proper consent.

  • The lawsuit focuses on Automated Content Recognition (ACR), software that can identify shows, apps, games, and even purchases by frequently capturing on-screen data and sending it back to advertisers.

  • Texas claims TV makers push users to enable ACR through misleading setup screens, hide explanations in legal jargon, and raise additional concerns about data security—especially for companies with ties to China.

📢 Tesla ordered to change self-driving claims ↗️LINK

  • A California administrative law judge ruled that Tesla’s marketing for “Autopilot” and “Full Self-Driving” is misleading, and the state DMV warned it could suspend Tesla’s license to sell cars in California if changes aren’t made.

  • The DMV ordered Tesla to fix its marketing within 60 days or face a 30-day sales suspension, though it stopped short of suspending the company’s manufacturing license.

  • Regulators say Tesla has long implied its driver-assist systems are autonomous when they are not, while Tesla denies misleading customers and says it clearly warns drivers to stay fully attentive.
