Microsoft launched a revamped Copilot app that combines AI chat, coding, Office apps, and autonomous agents, with new Home, Code, and Autopilot sections designed to centralize workplace AI tasks.

Users can pick OpenAI or Anthropic models, or let Auto choose per request. Everyday chat and Office features sit under a per-user monthly license, while Cowork, Code and Autopilot get usage-based billing.

Microsoft reports over 30 million paid Copilot seats, only about 7% of its 450 million commercial Microsoft 365 seats. The super app's real job: convince the other 93% to start paying.

Google started testing Call for Me, which lets Gemini phone businesses to book reservations, reschedule appointments, or check stock. Only paid Gemini subscribers with Pixel 11 phones in the US can try it.

Gemini introduces itself, navigates phone menus, waits on hold, and talks to whoever answers. You watch a live transcript and can take over anytime, and it can share personal details you approve.

Google demoed nearly this exact trick with Duplex back in 2018. Eight years later, it's back as an "early experiment," now racing Meta's Muse agent to the phone lines.

Anthropic is asking shareholders to give CEO Dario Amodei and his six co-founders special shares with 50.1% of the vote on most matters, according to The Information. Control lasts while three keep a minimum stake.

Each co-founder reportedly owns about 2% and has pledged to give away 80% of their wealth. The new shares carry no extra economic value but would keep the group in control after listing.

Zuckerberg and Spiegel already use super-voting shares, but a seven-founder bloc is rare. Still, Anthropic's Long-Term Benefit Trust keeps picking most of the board, and employees get tie-breaking shares.

Google will launch a fridge-sized Planet satellite carrying four Trillium TPUs on SpaceX's Transporter-18 mission on October 1, the first orbital test of Project Suncatcher, its plan for solar-powered data centers in space.

Orbits with near-constant sunlight deliver up to 8x more solar power than on Earth. The test checks whether the chips survive launch, radiation, and heat before a two-satellite laser-link trial in 2027.

California and Texas hold about 80% of Waymo’s fleet, while Texas vehicle numbers jumped 49% in three weeks as the new Ojai minivan quickly reached one-third of the state’s fleet.

Waymo plans to import 5,100 Ojai minivans this year, but steep U.S. tariffs on the Chinese-built vehicles could chip away at the lower costs that made the model attractive.
