• What: TikTok’s U.S. business will be run by a new company, with U.S. investors—Oracle, Silver Lake, and Andreessen Horowitz—owning about 80%. Chinese shareholders will keep a smaller stake. The board will be mostly American, with one member chosen by the U.S. government. Oracle will store U.S. user data in Texas.

• Why: The deal is meant to meet U.S. demands that TikTok separate from Chinese ownership over security concerns. President Trump delayed the deadline for this requirement to December 16 to allow the plan to move forward.
