Hand-picked news:
🩺 OpenAI launches ChatGPT Health ↗️LINK
OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Health, a private mode that lets users connect medical records and fitness data from services like Apple Health, MyFitnessPal, Peloton, and b.well so health conversations use personal context instead of generic advice.
Health chats are isolated from the rest of ChatGPT, protected with stronger encryption, and excluded from model training, addressing privacy concerns as OpenAI expands into more sensitive areas.
A waitlist opens today, with broader web and iOS access coming soon; importing full medical records is limited to U.S. users for now, as OpenAI says more than 40 million people already use the platform daily for health-related questions.
📥 Google adds more AI to your Gmail inbox ↗️LINK
Google is introducing an AI Inbox view for Gmail that replaces the traditional email list with personalized to-dos and topic summaries, suggesting actions like rescheduling appointments, replying to contacts, or paying fees based on your emails.
The feature is rolling out first to trusted U.S. testers on consumer Gmail accounts in browsers, with no support yet for Workspace users and no current way to mark suggested tasks as completed, which could risk adding to inbox overload.
Alongside AI Inbox, all consumer Gmail users are getting personalized suggested replies, AI thread summaries, and Help Me Write for free, while Google One AI Pro and Ultra subscribers gain advanced proofreading and AI-powered search summaries, with Google saying Gmail content is not used to train Gemini models.
💰 xAI reaches $230B valuation with Nvidia backing ↗️LINK
xAI closed a $20B Series E round that values the company at about $230B, placing it among the top frontier AI labs behind OpenAI and Anthropic and well ahead of most rivals.
The company is rapidly expanding its compute footprint in Memphis, with plans for a third data center that would bring total power capacity close to 2 gigawatts.
xAI says Grok 5 is now in training, with upcoming products designed to tightly connect the chatbot, the X platform, and its Colossus supercomputer, reinforcing its position in the intensifying AI funding race.
💻 Lenovo unveils a cross-device AI assistant ↗️LINK
Lenovo announced Qira, a system-level AI assistant that follows users across Lenovo PCs and Motorola phones, aiming to provide “Personal Ambient Intelligence” with shared context between devices.
Qira combines Microsoft and OpenAI cloud models, Stability AI for image generation, and integrations with tools like Notion and Perplexity, while running in the background to surface relevant files and suggestions as users switch devices mid-task.
Initial features include writing messages in a user’s style, live meeting notes with translation, proactive actions, and recap summaries, with rollout starting on select Lenovo PCs this quarter and expanding to Motorola phones later in 2026.
🚗 Ford plans to bring AI assistants into its in-car experience ↗️LINK
Ford used CES to preview plans for AI assistants inside its vehicles, positioning artificial intelligence as a core part of the in-car experience starting in 2026.
The company says its goal is not generic AI, but personalized intelligence that understands the driver’s context, location, and what the vehicle can do to make decisions and actions easier.
Ford envisions this intelligence traveling seamlessly between a user’s phone and car, creating a continuous, personalized layer rather than a one-size-fits-all assistant.
