That's not hyperbole. People are literally using ChatGPT to write Etsy descriptions that convert 3x better. Claude to build entire SaaS products without coding. Midjourney to create designs clients pay thousands for.
The Hustle found 200+ ways regular humans are turning AI into income. Subscribe to The Hustle for the full guide and unlock daily business intel that's actually interesting.
Hand-picked news:
🎧 AI-made songs are taking over Deezer ↗️LINK
Deezer now receives over 50,000 fully AI-generated tracks every day, making up 34% of all daily uploads, a sharp rise from just 10,000 in January as AI music creation accelerates.
Deezer says up to 70% of plays on fully AI tracks are fraudulent, filters them out of royalty payments, removes them from recommendations and playlists, and uses its detection tech to identify music made by tools like Suno and Udio.
A global survey by Ipsos found 97% of listeners can’t tell AI music from human-made tracks, with most supporting clear AI labels and worrying about harm to artists’ income — a concern echoed across the industry, including by rivals like Spotify.
🎥 Gemini can now tell if a video was made with AI ↗️LINK
Google has added AI video detection to Gemini, letting users upload a clip and ask if it was created or edited using AI.
Gemini checks videos and audio for Google’s SynthID watermark and shows exactly where AI-generated elements appear, offering more detail than a simple yes-or-no answer.
The feature is free and available globally, but it only works on videos that use SynthID and is limited to short clips (up to 90 seconds or 100MB), making it best for spotting AI content on social media.
🎧 Netflix wants podcasts on your TV ↗️LINK
Netflix is betting on video podcasts, signing deals with major media companies to bring shows to its platform and directly compete with YouTube, where podcast viewing is already huge.
Many podcasters aren’t convinced. They say most listeners still prefer audio, worry video adds extra work, and fear another Big Tech–driven podcast bubble like the one caused by Spotify.
For Netflix, the spending is small but strategic. If it works, podcasts could become the new “background TV,” replacing reruns and daytime shows with long-form talk content.
🧠 Claude’s Chrome plugin opens up to all paid users ↗️LINK
Anthropic has expanded its Claude Chrome plugin beyond $200/month Max users, making it available to anyone with a paid Claude subscription.
The plugin lets Claude actively use the web for you — filling out forms, managing email and calendars, completing multi-step tasks, and even learning workflows you record, with added support for Claude Code.
Similar browser agents already exist from OpenAI and Perplexity, while Google has so far stopped short of letting Gemini fully navigate the web on users’ behalf.
🛒 Instacart to refund $60M after FTC settlement ↗️LINK
Instacart agreed to pay $60 million in refunds to settle a lawsuit from the Federal Trade Commission, which accused the app of deceptive practices that raised grocery costs.
The FTC said Instacart misled users with claims like “free delivery” and “100% satisfaction guaranteed,” while still charging service fees and often offering credits instead of full refunds.
Instacart denies wrongdoing but agreed to change its marketing and refund subscribers who weren’t clearly told they’d be charged after free trials, with the settlement remaining in effect for 10 years.
