Hand-picked news:
🌕 Elon Musk to build an A.I. satellite factory ↗️LINK
Elon Musk told employees at xAI that the startup should build a factory on the Moon to produce AI satellites, using a “mass driver” catapult to launch them and generate massive computing power for advanced AI systems.
The idea follows SpaceX’s recent acquisition of xAI and Musk’s shift toward building a self-sustaining Moon base before attempting Mars, though he did not explain how the lunar facility would actually be built.
Musk also claimed X has around 600 million monthly active users and aims to surpass 1 billion daily users with new features like X Money, as xAI faces co-founder departures and scrutiny over Grok’s alleged deepfake content.
🤖 xAI loses half of its original co-founders ↗️LINK
Elon Musk’s xAI saw two more co-founders, Jimmy Ba and Tony Wu, depart in back-to-back announcements, bringing total exits to six of the company’s original 12 founders following SpaceX’s reported $1.25 trillion acquisition.
Jimmy Ba, who led key work on Grok version 4, represented major deep learning expertise, and his departure adds to a broader leadership shakeup that includes former CFO Mike Liberatore leaving for OpenAI.
The exits come as xAI faces regulatory investigations across multiple regions tied to Grok’s deepfake image controversies, adding pressure during a pivotal period for the company’s future.
📸 Instagram reportedly developing AI face swap feature ↗️LINK
Instagram is reportedly building an AI tool that lets users generate images and videos using their own likeness through text prompts, with content potentially shareable via DMs or Stories.
The feature would require permission to use someone else’s face, sending invite requests that must be accepted before their likeness can appear in AI-generated content.
While the system is designed to reduce misuse, details on moderation and safety controls remain unclear, and Meta has not officially confirmed the tool, which was revealed through leaked screenshots labeled “Create my likeness.”
🔒 Age verification on Discord drives users to other apps ↗️LINK
Searches for “Discord alternatives” in the U.S. spiked roughly 10,000% within 48 hours after Discord announced a global age verification rollout that will default all users to “Teen-by-Default” starting March 2026.
Under the new system, users must verify their age through facial scans or government ID to access age-restricted channels and full features, prompting privacy concerns given Discord’s past data breach.
Alternative platforms are seeing major search gains, including Stoat (formerly Revolt), Matrix, IRC, and Mumble, signaling mounting user frustration and potential churn as the policy expands worldwide.
📞 T-Mobile to beta test live AI call translation without an app ↗️LINK
T-Mobile is launching a beta this spring for Live Translation, an AI-powered feature that translates regular phone calls into more than 50 languages directly at the network level, with no app or special device required.
The service works over VoLTE, VoNR, and VoWiFi across 4G LTE and 5G networks, and can be activated by eligible users during a call by dialing 87, with no added cost during the beta period.
T-Mobile says translations happen in real time and are not stored, with no recordings or transcripts saved, though it has not confirmed whether the feature will be paywalled after the public launch.

Reader’s opinions:
“I use AI as a glorified search engine. It saves me time searching and digging through the results on my own. I also use it to assist in programming. I don't use it towrite code, but to help solve problems and check documentation.”
“The increased expectations, pressure, and stress due to it are undeniable. The steep learning curve, too.”
