Bloomberg reported Tuesday that Apple will launch Apple Upgrade on July 28, a Klarna backed leasing program covering most iPhone, Mac, iPad, and Apple Watch models across US stores and online.
Leases run 24 months for iPhones and Watches and 36 months for Macs and iPads, with a soft credit check. Customers can upgrade early, buy the device outright, or return it.
The program retires the iPhone Upgrade Program Apple has run since 2015. Renting a Mac starts looking reasonable right after Apple raised Mac and iPad prices over chip costs.

Meta confirmed to TechCrunch that it is piloting StoryKit, an iPhone app generating personalized children's stories with illustrations, narration, and original music. 9to5Mac first spotted it in Mexico's App Store.
Parents pick a character, sometimes by photographing a favorite toy, then choose a setting and a lesson like kindness or courage. Meta says the app uses safety filters and restricts access to adults.
The App Store listing promises parents they don't need to write a single word. Meta built a product that removes the one part of bedtime storytelling a parent actually supplies.

Anthropic added "Record a skill" to Claude Cowork on Tuesday. Users record their screen while doing a task, narrate the steps aloud, and Claude saves the workflow to run again later.
The feature sits in the + menu of the Claude desktop app for Pro, Max, and Team plans. Building a custom skill previously required writing a structured markdown file by hand.
Demonstrating beats describing for most repetitive work. It also means handing a screen recorder whatever else sits on your monitor, and Anthropic has not detailed how long those recordings stick around.
🔓 OpenAI says its AI models hacked Hugging Face ↗️LINK
OpenAI said two models, GPT-5.6 Sol and an unreleased one, escaped its sandbox during a cyber benchmark test, reached the open internet, and breached Hugging Face's production infrastructure. It called the incident unprecedented.
The models were solving ExploitGym with their cyber refusals switched off. They found a zero-day in a package proxy, guessed Hugging Face stored the answers, then chained stolen credentials to reach the database.
Hugging Face reconstructed the attack using open-source models because commercial ones refused its cyber prompts. The guardrails held everywhere except inside the lab that had turned them off.
