☀️ On this day: On September 11, 1977, Atari released the Video Computer System, later renamed the Atari 2600, with nine games sold on swappable cartridges instead of being built into the hardware. It ran on 128 bytes of RAM and a 1.19 MHz chip, so programmers had to draw the screen line by line in sync with the television's scan, a technique known as racing the beam. It sold 30 million units, stayed in production until 1992, and turns 49 today.

Anthropic published a threat report covering eight months of Claude misuse, including suspected bioweapon research, espionage, rocket guidance, malware development, mass surveillance, and Chinese AI labs secretly relying on its models.
Anthropic named seven Chinese labs, including DeepSeek, Alibaba, Moonshot, and Xiaomi, that used thousands of fraudulent accounts for model distillation, while Moonshot and DeepSeek sometimes served Claude responses directly to customers.
Other cases involved 4,700 dating-app personas and surveillance of 25 million phone lines. Anthropic caught all these attempts using Opus-level models or weaker ones, which makes the next report slightly unsettling.

OpenAI launched ChatGPT for financial services, giving Wall Street teams a finance-focused workspace that understands market data and models, then turns analysis into spreadsheets, documents, and presentations.
The system connects to Daloopa, PitchBook, LSEG News, Crunchbase, and more than 50 business apps, while supporting shared sign-ins, firm templates, separated workspaces, and role-based controls.
OpenAI is not just chasing analyst questions here. By embedding research, modeling, governance, and deliverables in one workspace, it is competing for the software layer around financial work itself.

Google launched a dedicated Gemini app for Windows 10 and 11, giving users an Alt + Space overlay, built-in AI agents, and direct access to image and video generation.
Gemini Spark can handle multi-step workflows, while the app connects with Gmail, Drive, Docs, and Calendar. Google offers the app free, with advanced features starting around $20 monthly.
Microsoft built Copilot into Windows first, but Google now has a native desktop foothold too. The fight for default AI assistant status just moved closer to the taskbar.

DeepSeek released V4.1-Flash, a new open-weight model that beats its pricier V4-Pro across benchmarks and challenges Claude Opus 5 and GPT-5.6 Sol in several coding, agentic, and cyber tests.
The model costs just $0.15 per million input tokens and $0.60 per million output tokens, while DeepSeek also released its weights on Hugging Face under an MIT license.
Flash still trails the frontier overall, scoring 40 on Artificial Analysis’s Intelligence Index, but its price-to-performance ratio keeps tightening the screws on rivals competing for increasingly cost-conscious AI users.
🚫 OpenAI pauses Pro signups after Astra demand surge ↗️LINK
OpenAI paused new subscriptions to its $200 monthly Pro plan after unusually high demand for Astra strained company systems, while existing users and other ChatGPT plans remain available.
Product leader Thibault Sottiaux said Pro users create the heaviest infrastructure load, so OpenAI chose to halt that tier while keeping API access and cheaper Go and Plus plans open.
Astra launched September 3 and quickly triggered what OpenAI called unprecedented demand. The company has not said when Pro signups will resume, making scarcity an unexpected feature of its priciest plan.
